Healing

Jesus as healer

In the Christian and Missionary Alliance we profess Jesus as our Savior, Sanctifier, HEALER & Coming King. At Heartland Church we believe that miraculous healing still happens today.

what do we practice at heartland?

We practice anointing with oil by our elders coupled with prayer when requested as outlined in James 5:14 (“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.”)

We see from the Bible that Jesus modeled healing. He trained His disciples to heal. James 5:15 says “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” Healing can be both physical and spiritual.

It is well within His capabilities & rights to do things super-naturally which interrupt the flow of our lives in a dramatic way. This allows us to see without a doubt that it is the hand of God at work. Asking for healing in our earthly bodies can give us a glimpse of His personal, temporary mercy that gives us a taste of what He is going to do for us eternally.

Many times God uses His creation, through a community powered by the wisdom & skills He’s given us, to do the healing work. We should always remember, though, that seeking His healing through prayer should not be our last resort after we’ve exhausted all other resources. It’s not about us but about His will, His timing, His plan and His glorification. Sometimes it is His will to heal, but sometimes it is not.

Ultimately, our full physical healing awaits us in heaven. We are promised, when we believe in Him, that our heavenly bodies will no longer experience pain, sickness, suffering, disease or death.
